With a saturated market of fiberglass boat cleaners, it is hard to choose the right one for the job. At BoatLIFE®, we’ve been making high-quality boat cleaning, boat repair, boat maintenance, and boat restoration products right here in the U.S.A. since 1959, so we know a thing or two about cleaners. Read on to learn how to choose the right fiberglass boat cleaner.
Determine what you’re cleaning
For starters, a general wash of your boat’s fiberglass and other surfaces is never a bad idea as there will always be surface level dirt and grime. Our most entry level cleaner, Boat Cleaner, now in its new formula, is perfect for this level of cleaning. All you need is a five-gallon bucket, Boat Cleaner mixed with some fresh water, and a sponge or soft cloth, and you can clean your boat knowing that the fiberglass will be left sparkly clean and ready for waxing. For tougher stains that require more elbow grease so to speak, you’ll need our Fiberglass Powder Cleaner & Stain Remover which is our heavy-duty cleaner. The non-scratching formula will lift dirt and stains left from rust, scuff marks, black streaks, and diesel exhaust. Simply sprinkle on a wetted surface, work with a scrubbing brush, and wash off with fresh or saltwater. It’s that easy! Now your dirt, grime, and streaks have been removed from your fiberglass boat, it’s time to wash the other surfaces.
Identify areas that need special attention
Boat Cleaner and Fiberglass Powder Cleaner & Stain Remover are great for thoroughly cleaning your fiberglass boat leaving the gel coat ready for waxing, however for other areas either within the cabin or the boat’s exterior, consider paying special attention to the surfaces in question and what needs to be cleaned. For pontoons, aluminum boats and hulls, and for any aluminum hardware or fittings, our Aluminum Cleaner works wonders. It will brighten, polish and protect your aluminum.
Any areas where you have stainless steel fixtures will benefit from a once-over with our Stainless Steel Cleaner which will remove grease and stains while preventing fingerprints from sticking. Our VinyLIFE® Vinyl Cleaner & Protectant is great for cleaning any vinyl, upholstery, fenders, bumpers, and other rubber products. It not only cleans, but also protects surfaces from harmful UV ray damage. Last but not least, don’t overlook your live well and bait well! Our Live Well & Bait Well Cleaner is the only product you need to clean the area thoroughly while deodorizing at the same time. A clean live well and bait well is important as it helps prevent the spread of diseases among aquatic life. As an added bonus, it leaves behind a pleasant scent.
