BoatLIFE and Lowcountry Maritime School featured in Scuttlebutt Southeast

Scuttlebutt Southeast magazine covers

BoatLIFE® and Lowcountry Maritime School (LMS) were recently featured in an editorial feature in Scuttlebutt Southeast’s May/June 2025. The existing partnership between BoatLIFE and LMS was announced last fall and commenced with the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina-based LMS is the region’s premier not-for-profit maritime education organization dedicated to teaching grade school students and community members STEM-based boat building techniques using hands-on applications. BoatLIFE was honored to donate its high-quality boat sealant, Life-Calk, for students to work with under the tutelage of LMS teachers. For over 65 years, BoatLIFE has led the maritime industry with its American-made boat building, boat care, boat maintenance, and boat restoration products.

About Lowcountry Maritime School

Founded in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, in 2014, Lowcountry Maritime School (LMS) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that educates and engages school-aged youth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) based boatbuilding techniques and maritime culture. Through co-created teacher-driven instruction, students learn the ins and outs of boatbuilding, and specifically wooden boat construction, with hands-on learning in a classroom setting. Currently, Lowcountry Maritime School partners with 13 local schools and is in the process of expanding its reach. In addition to its classroom partnerships with local schools, LMS also offers after-school programs, summer camps, and holds classes at its boatyard in Mount Pleasant. This is an exciting time for BoatLIFE, now in its 65th year, to partner with LMS, as not only is it the preferred caulk vendor, BoatLIFE is also a local Charleston, South Carolina business.

Stay tuned for a blog post on the recent boat launch at Colonial Lake in Downtown Charleston in which a BoatLIFE representative participated! For more information about Lowcountry Maritime School and to view its current offerings, visit www.lowcountrymaritimesociety.org.
