The Best Boats of 2013

Purchasing and owning a boat provides people access to both
recreational fishing and watersports. Each year, the Miami International Boat
Show, which is held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, has a collection of
manufacturers and industry leaders that represent some of the top names from
around the world. This year, the conference had an impressive selection of boat
motors that provide some never-before-seen marine power for recreational
boating and fishing. Conference attendees were able to test drive most of these
motors, which were available on boats that were stationed at the Sea Isle
Marina. Below you can find some of boat motor highlights from the 2013 Miami
International Boat Show.

Volvo Penta’s
V8-380 Gas Inboard

Industry experts are constantly attempting to improve the
performance and efficiency of boating technology, including engines.
Preliminary data shows that the V8-380 is one of the newest marine gasoline
sterndrive engines that dramatically improves both performance and efficiency.
The new engine incorporates technological advances, like valve timing that is
optimized for low-end torque and high-end horsepower, in order to improve
acceleration and give a more consistent performance. The 270 pounds lighter
engine was on display at the Miami Beach Convention Center where visitors
explored its inboard features and impressive design.

iPilot Trolling
Motor System

The iPilot trolling motor system has the ability to
automatically follow routes, as well as drive to specific destination points
that are given through a fishfinder or chart plotter. This revolutionary system
in boating allows users to control the iPilot through a separate unit or
through a new remote that utilizes a WiFi system to exchange information.
iPilot uses GPS technology so that sport fishers and recreational boaters can
retrace paths, set cruise control, and much more all through a remote. This new
technology allows boaters to spend less time positioning their boat and more
time enjoying the open water.

F200
Four-Cylinder Outboard

Yamaha’s new engine is both thinner and lighter, which makes it
an excellent replacement for larger and heavier engines that are in older
boats. The engine has a great power-to-weight ratio with a proven 16-valve dual
overhead camshaft power head, which responds well and provides efficient speeds.
The engine allows for quick acceleration and uses Yamaha’s Variable Camshaft
Timing System to make for a great engine.

Ultimately, the Miami International Boat Show brought together
some of the lead designers and manufacturers in the boating industry in order
to display new and upcoming technology. These engines are examples of some of
the advancements currently being made in the boating industry. Attendees were
able to preview products in order to provide people with live interaction with
some of the new developments in the industry. The conference also had a series
of do-it-yourself seminars and hands-on workshops, which provided participants
with skills, such as ongoing boat maintenance.
